Before I was a mother, I didn’t realize… Postpartum, hormone levels plummet, leading to fluctuations in mood and extreme cramping as your uterus shrinks. Your body produces colostrum which is packed with antibodies and nutrients, essential for the baby's immune system and gut health. When I was sick, I was afraid to keep nursing my child. The doctor told me to keep our regular feeding schedule to keep my little one well…it worked. Not everyone wants to or can, AND THAT IS OKAY! FED IS BEST!

If you delivered by C-section, you have 6 weeks before feeling back to normal, but you face scrutiny by some natural birth mothers, when recovery is difficult and painful no matter birthing method. 

Oxytocin is released during labor, breastfeeding, and skin-to-skin contact, promoting bonding and maternal instincts. Studies show that mothers can identify their baby's scent within days of birth, and newborns can also recognize their mother's smell. Your nipples darken and get larger (and you smell a bit more) so your child can easily find you for food.

After birth, the primary parent's amygdala (the brain region associated with emotions) becomes more active, enhancing vigilance and sensitivity to the baby's emotional well-being.

I no longer have any mass to my breasts. HOWEVER, I have found just how amazing my body is and that I was lucky to be able to feed my child. I’ve also learned I’m one hell of a mom. If you’re a parent, you’re doing great. I’m proud of you for how far you’ve come, and how far you have yet to go🖤
